More about this wine from Waipara Valley, North Canterbury, New Zealand
The Mountford Estate was established in the Waipara Valley, New Zealand, in 1991, chosen for its elevation and epic limestone soils. The vineyard was making renowned Chards — but it really took off when Takahiro Koyama joined the team and, over time, helped to establish their renowned Burgundy-style Pinot Noir. Through a combination of attention to detail using traditional and bio-dynamic practices, this scarlet-hued Pinot is from the oldest vines on the estate, and they have mainlined the limestone deposits in the hills of Mountford into each bottle. With its red and black fruits and spice, this wine truly shows an expression of place in time in this vintage.
